Our Careteam

Adam Rhodes
Veterinary Assistant
Adam stumbled into the veterinary field by accident when he was 23 years old. His sister-in-law had just started working at Smyrna Animal Hospital, and told him about an open position. He had never considered working with animals, but it wasn’t long before he fell in love with the profession!

Adam was born in Marietta, Georgia. He filled out an application in March of 2003 and had his interview the next day. He has served as a Veterinary Assistant ever since. Adam particularly likes assisting with surgeries, and also enjoys bathing animals because of the one-on-one time he can get with pets.

At home, Adam lives with his wife and two children. The family has three pets: Keeper, Hope, and Little Bit.
Cathy Ennis
Head Veterinary Technician
29 years ago, Cathy walked into the clinic looking for a job. She came out with a career! Dr. Wolf called Cathy into his office, interviewed her, and hired her right on the spot. Now she serves as the Head Veterinary Technician at Smyrna Animal Hospital.

Cathy grew up right here in Marietta. When she started at the clinic, she bathed pets, pulled blood, and took x-rays. In 2004, she was given the opportunity to take the Georgia licensing test, which she passed to become a certified Veterinary Technician. Her favorite parts of the job are preparing for surgeries, monitoring surgeries, and seeing a pet the whole way through until they’re healthy enough to go home.

Cathy is married and has two daughters. She has one pet at home, a dog named Piper. She’s also taken in turtles, rabbits, a chinchilla, several squirrels, and a lot of cats!

Outside of work, Cathy is active in her church and even traveled to Alaska on a missionary trip last year! She also likes boating and going to the lake with family and friends.
Charlotte Rhodes
Office Manager
Having been downsized from the banking industry and having to drive to Buckhead every day, Charlotte was looking for something less stressful and closer to home. She applied at Smyrna Animal Hospital and was hired in March of 2003 as a receptionist. When the previous office manager moved on, Charlotte was ready to fill the position!

Charlotte has always enjoyed math and accounting, so she’s a great fit for the Office Manager role. She says that when the numbers start running together, she can take a break by going to the treatment or boarding area of the clinic and love on a pet—it’s a great stress reliever!

Charlotte is married and has four children as well as two grandchildren. At home, she has two Chihuahuas, a Yorkie, a Black Lab, and a cat. When she isn’t working or spending time with her family, Charlotte enjoys watching college football, reading, and attending church.
Kate Bennett
Veterinary Assistant, Exam Room Assistant
After exploring various career options and degree programs, Kate knew she wanted to do something in the medical field. She realized she would probably have more varied medical experiences in the veterinary field, so her mind was made up!

Born and raised in Lithia Springs, Georgia, Kate was hired at the clinic in August of 2004 when she was going into her senior year of high school. She continued her education at Kennesaw State University, in biology and chemistry.

Kate enjoys acting as the “Air Traffic Controller” around the clinic, helping to expedite and provide quality appointments for all clients and patients. She loves building relationships with clients and hearing about the various relationships people have with their pets.

Kate has one dog and a cat of her own at home. Snickers is a 16-year-old mutt who likes being a couch potato. Frank Sinatra is a 12-year-old tomcat that rules the roost!
Tranette Carr
Veterinary Assistant
Tranette can’t remember a time when she didn’t adore the company of animals. She’s always wanted to work in the veterinary profession in order to improve the lives of as many pets as possible, and she gets to live her dream as a member of Smyrna Animal Hospital’s care team!

Tranette is originally from Buffalo, New York, but moved here to Georgia when she was seven years old. She joined the Smyrna Animal Hospital family in July of 2017 on a leap of faith—Tranette walked into the clinic to inquire about a job, and was hired on the spot! Now, she helps the area’s pets and animal parents as a Veterinary Assistant.
Much of Tranette’s free time is spent at her very own dance studio, Diving Royals Dance Company, where she leads a team of young adult dancers. She also loves to spend time at home with her three dogs: London, Lania, and Roxy.
Veterinary Assistant
Darlene adored animals ever since her earliest memories, but adopting a baby squirrel when she was 11 years old sealed her fate: she knew that she wanted to help animals in a hands-on way as a veterinary professional. As a former client of Smyrna Animal Hospital, Darlene is now excited to serve as a member of the clinic’s Veterinary Assistant team while she studies veterinary medicine in college!

A Smyrna native, Darlene signed on here at Smyrna Animal Hospital in late 2018 after starting school to become a veterinarian. She couldn’t be happier to gain crucial hands-on experience as a Veterinary Assistant—Darlene especially likes observing in the surgical ward, taking samples and examining them under the microscope, and bathing the clinic’s visiting pets. Nothing beats a cute pet with bubbles on their head!

When she has a spare moment between her work shifts and her busy school schedule, Darlene likes spending time with her family and taking her dogs to the park. She lives with her boyfriend, Diego, and three pets: two hyper and loving German Shepherds named Lobo and Adah, as well as a Tuxedo cat named Marty McFly who was adopted from Smyrna Animal Hospital.
Misty Rhodes
Veterinary Technician
Misty knows that being a Veterinary Technician isn’t just about helping pets—it’s about helping their owners as well! She always wanted to help both people and animals, and serving as a Technician allows her to do just that.

Born and raised in Georgia, Misty came to the clinic in 1998 to apply right out of high school. Once hired, she started school at Kennesaw State University. Later, she took the state board test and became a registered Veterinary Technician. Wound care is a specific interest of Misty’s; she loves seeing how treatment makes a difference each day.

Misty is married and has two children. She also shares her home with three dogs: Little Bit, a Jack Russell; Keeper, a Chihuahua; and Hope, also a Chihuahua. Little Bit and Hope are actually rescues from Smyrna Animal Hospital!
Kellie Strickland
Like most in the veterinary profession, Kellie has an innate love for animals and finds great satisfaction in seeing pets stay healthy. She’s also a people person through and through! What better way for her to use her people skills to help pets enjoy better lives than by working in an animal clinic? Kellie first started here at Smyrna Animal Hospital 22 years ago, and she’s thrilled to return home and continue caring for the area’s pets and animal owners!

A Marietta native, Kellie joined the Smyrna Animal Hospital family in the summer of 1996 and spent ten years tending to pets and owners before moving to southern Georgia in 2006 to care for her mother. She worked at another animal hospital there for five years before moving back to Smyrna and serving in a number of clinics for the next few years. When Kellie received a call from Smyrna Animal Hospital about an open position, she jumped at the opportunity to rejoin the compassionate and talented care team she had launched her veterinary journey with years before—Kellie has been here ever since.

At home, Kellie and her sister share their lives with three dogs: a Dachshund named Sylvia; Abbey, an aging Basset Hound who belongs to Kellie’s sister; and a terrier mix puppy named Kenny. Kellie also enjoys visiting her brothers and their many canine companions—her older brother has six dogs, and her younger brother has 14!

Megan Snyder
Megan spent many of her childhood summers growing up on her family’s horse farm in Milledgeville, Georgia, where a love of animal care developed early on. Ever since she can remember, she’s been passionate about helping others—as a receptionist with the Smyrna Animal Hospital team, Megan gets to do just that every day!

Megan joined the hospital family in June of 2016, and has been serving the pets and animal owners of Smyrna ever since. Her favorite part of the job is working alongside her outstanding fellow team members to make a lasting impact on the community’s families.

Outside of animal care, Megan’s interests include horseback riding, genealogy, volunteering, 2D and 3D art, and developing and designing virtual products. She lives with one pet of her own at home: Jake, a rescued Maine Coon cat who enjoys playing catch, fetching toys, and getting long belly rubs.
Exam Room Technician
When Maddie’s childhood dog had an unfortunate encounter with a car, the team here at Smyrna Animal Hospital rushed into action and nursed the pet back to full health. Maddie has looked up to all animal-care professionals ever since, and always knew that she would one day love to help others’ pets in the same way. She gets to do just that as a member of the clinic family!

Maddie is a Smyrna native and joined the hospital team in August of 2017 after some time spent in the fast food industry. She especially enjoys getting to meet a wide variety of pet personalities every day, and loves caring for companions of all ages. For Maddie, nothing beats seeing a happy pet reunited with their loving owner thanks to the skill and attention of the clinic team.
Outside of the office, Maddie enjoys all aspects of design—she’s currently in school to study interior design!—and also loves to spend time with her own pets at home. She has four cats: Naboo, Bahlo, Demoon, and Enigma.
