Rude Ways Your Cat Shows Gratitude

Thanksgiving isn’t far off! We love those delicious feasts as much as everyone else. Of course, it’s also important to remember to be grateful for the good things in our lives. That list definitely includes cats! Kitties are also quite appreciative of the love and care we offer. However, they do have some rather purrplexing–if not flat-out rude–ways of showing it. A Marietta, GA vet lists some odd ways your furball may show her thanks in this article.

Chair Theft

Fluffy is very opportunistic, especially when it comes to choosing napping spots. Sooner or later, you’ll get up to get something, only to find your furball smugly settled into your spot when you get back.

Wake-Up Call

Fluffy takes breakfast very, very seriously. If you have the gall to sleep in past the time when she expects her bowl to be filled, your hangry pet may wake you up by smacking you in the face with a paw. She may also yell at you for being late with dinner. That’s more cattitude than gratitude!

Ignoring You

Kitties can be very affectionate, but some of them are quite finicky about when and how they get petted. That said, it isn’t out of character for Fluffy to demand attention when you’re busy, and then ignore you when you’re ready to cuddle.

Hairball Placement

Hairballs are no more fun for cats than they are for us. In fact, they can actually be quite dangerous. If your pet has frequent issues with hairballs, contact your vet. That said, Fluffy’s choice of locations for hairballs can be a bit suspect. Kitties do have a way of leaving those messes in the most inconvenient spots possible!

Presents

Most of us are much less impressed by Fluffy’s hunting prowess than our ancestors were. However, cats haven’t realized that yet. If you let your kitty out, she may very well thank you by offering you presents … in the form of dead birds and rodents.

Biting

Kitties have many curious qualities. One of the oddest ones is the fact that they sometimes bite affectionately. We’re pretty sure that cats are the only one of our animal companions that like to show affection this way. Apparently Fluffy isn’t too concerned with petiquette here.
